Leading e-commerce platform Jumia has donated the first 30,000 certified face masks to the Ministry of Health to help combat the spread of COVID-19. The face masks will be distributed to health workers at various health facilities across the country to help keep them safe in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The donation comes at a time when there is an urgent need for masks to protect health workers at the forefront of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
“ We are delighted to support the Ministry of Health’s efforts in the fight against the COVID-19 virus. We have offered our logistics to help transport essential medical supplies around the country & today we donate 30,000 certified face masks to be distributed to health workers at the frontline,” added Ron Kawamara, Jumia Uganda CEO. The Director of Health Services Dr Henry Mwebesa said;

“We appreciate this donation from the Jumia team. It has come at a time when there is a shortage of face masks and these face masks will help make our health workers feel safer & more comfortable as they work.”
An additional 20,000 face masks are expected to arrive in the country as part of the donation.
In the meantime, Jumia will continue to support the Ministry’s efforts in the fight against the pandemic by offering logistical support to transport essential medical supplies & other items across the country.
