Itel Mobile recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in an event filled with pomp and colour. The event held at Protea Marriot Hotel Kampala was graced by its many dealers across Uganda, other dignitaries and media who were treated to a fete but not forgetting the main reason as to everyone was invited. To celebrate 10 years of itel. Many of the invited walked off with brand new home appliances like fridges, TV sets, gift hampers among others.
Itel started selling its phones in Africa in 2007 and 2017 marks ten years since the first itel was sold here and currently they’re vying for the top mobile brand in Africa.
“Ten Years ago, itel Mobile launched in Africa inspired by a mission to empower everyone with seamless mobile communication through reliable and trendy mobile devices. In a time that has been highlighted by harsh political and economic conditions, itel has achieved one decade of change and steady growth.” Said Alex Liu, itel Uganda Country Manager.
While the above paragraph emphasizes Africa, the brand has since spread wings to South Asia with devices found in Asian countries like Sri-Lanka, Bangladesh among others. For the 10 years it has been in business and still counting, the brand has changed to meet consumer demands and has sold a landmark of 100 million devices and is ranked among the top 3 mobile brands in Africa.
The brand even signed on famous celebrities as brand ambassadors and they’re represented by songstress, Rema Namakula here. Of late, she has been instrumental in CSR activities with itel and just this year, Itel has carried out three CSR activities distributing foodstuffs and scholastic materials like books, bags, sports material among others .
Itel promises to carry one with this legacy and are looking forward to a vibrant future and they even get stronger. Itel will continue to focus on empowering Africa with seamless mobile communication through reliable and trendy mobile devices.
At the same event, itel sort of introduced their latest Selfie focused S32 with dual selfie cameras targeted at selfie lovers. This is a follow up to their earlier S21 and on top pf other phones like the battery focused P51 which we recently reviewed.
