At last it’s official, Facebook has once again proved its the go to social media platform. As for today, Instagram has a bigger active user base than Twitter, according to a blog post written today by CEO Kevin Systrom. With over over 300 million active users, compared to Twitter’s 284 million this makes Instagram more used than Twitter. But obviously you cannot compare both to Facebook’s 1.3 billion.
Instragram CEO further revealed that users are uploading more than 70 million photos and videos per day making it a platform that is growing at a faster rate than Twitter. Since Facebook bought Instagram the company has doubled the amount of its active monthly users since last year,. By December of 2012 Twitter reached 200 million active monthly users, but it has seen registered a declining growth with the likes of WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger even surpassing it— both of which have over 500 million. Systrom also talked about renewing Instagram’s focus on authenticity in the face of spam accounts.
