The upcoming Infinix Note 5 leaks: Specs and expected features

Like a pro race car driver, Infinix Mobility is shifting gears quickly from the earlier launches of the Infinix S3, Infinix Hot 6 and Infinix Hot 6 Pro. The company is now looking to update its phablet (and my favourite) NOTE line. Infinix is soon launching an Android One Note device that is expected to be the successor of the Infinix Note 4. The device is called Infinix Note 5 (obviously) and some specs of the device already leaked.

The launch will take place on 24th June in Dubai. However, no details about the availability in Uganda have been provided. But the company has gotten us used to fast availability of its devices and we believe the Note 5 will follow the same.

Infinix Note

Infinix Note 5 will be an Android One device.

The Note 5 is rumoured to be part of Google’s Android One project, which is pretty dope. Android One was initially made for entry point smartphones but it has now moved up the ranks to feature on devices like the Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1 (2018), Xiaomi Mi A1, HTC U11 Life and many others. Android One project means a pure Android experience, no bloat ware, no annoying additional services, frequent security patches and two years assured update to the latest version of Android.

Infinix released an Android One device with the Infinix Hot 2 which was dubbed “the poor man’s Nexus”. Android One doesn’t only mean a clean Android experience, but also a chance to use latest version of Android when Google releases them.

Other rumoured Infinix Note 5 specs.

The rest of the rumoured specs sheet points to a 5000mAh battery and Android Oreo 8.1. But if the phone is really an Android One device, it could be among the first phones with an update to Android P.

Being a 2018 device, we also expect a large Full HD display of above 6 inches with an 18:9 screen ratio. The teasers from the company show a device with a bezel-less display. However, this doesn’t come as a surprise since bezel-less displays have taken centre stage at all previous 2018 launches. The Infinix Note 5 will show that there’s no need for notches, even if a phone has thin bezels.

Face Unlock which has featured on the last three launched Infinix devices of Infinix S3, Infinix Hot 6 and the Hot 6 Pro may make it’s debut on the Infinix Note series. However, considering that none of the existing Android One devices has the feature, it’s possible the Note 5 may miss it.

Early information from the rumor mill suggests that the NOTE 5 will come in two variants. Like the Note 4, the Note 5 may have a Stylus variant. However, we were not happy with the XPen on the Note 4 Pro because it had no placement in the phone.

The defining features of the Infinix Note phones are the bigger screen and huge battery. Other rumoured features include a 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, while the Note 5 Pro would pack 64GB and a behemoth 5000mAh non-removable battery.

Dual cameras?

While the Infinix Note line has very potent cameras, it’s not camera centric. This may well cancel out any possibilities of a dual camera setup on the Infinix Note 5. But take this with a grain of salt since the actual specs of the device may remain mysterious until the 24th June launch.

We shall be keeping you posted about any details that come up so you don’t miss a thing. For now all we have to do is countdown the days till the launch so we get the real Infinix Note 5 in our hands.
