Huawei’s new Smartband becomes the first 4.5G LTE-M wearable

Huawei has taken the wraps off the world’s first LTE-M wearable that can support 4.5G networks. The petite device is said to work with networks that can support up to 1Gbps speeds and it will be commercially available next year.Even if we see no reason why such speeds are appropriate for a wearable device– well — Huawei just made one.

The LTE-M chip in this device is made by Neul, a small company that Huawei acquired back in September last year. With the LTE -M, you would be able track your heart rate and fitness levels, and it can also pair with most Internet of Things (IoT) IoT devices, like smart-fridges and thermostats. We shall wait for more specs of this device to be announced at Mobile World Congress next month.
