HTC rumored to be working on Android smartwatch: We wont hold our breath

I think we have heard a lot about smart-watches in recent times, according to report from Bloomberg News HTC is planning a smartwatch for the second half of next year. Just like the Galaxy gear, HTC’s smartwatch is also expected to have a camera and run Android, dont expect things like pricing and other watch features to be leaked yet. We recently saw and reviewed the  Sony smartwatch and other companies like Samsung have already produced smartwatches running Android, we still expect Apple’s iWatch debut next year.

According to reports yesterday, HTC CEO Peter Chou and chairwoman Cher Wang talked about HTC’s intentions to penetrate the wearable technology market, which they called a “critical segment” for the company. HTC was rumored to be working on a Smart watch with Microsoft last year but we doubt if the project was fruitful. The CEO also claims

It’s still too early, it has to meet a need, otherwise if it’s just a gimmick or concept, it’s not for people’s day-to-day lives. That is an opportunity for us.
