    How to Submit NSSF Benefits Claims Online

    The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) recently launched online benefits claims to qualifying members in a webinar, something that has traditionally been a manual process. The process has since shifted online and qualifying members can file for claims via the NSSFGO Mobile or web application on Android, iOS or PC.

    This coming during COVID-19 times makes sense now that social distancing measures are being encouraged to avoid new infections and it also helps decongest NSSF’s physical branches. On the other hand, it also solves the rather lengthy manual process, beneficiaries previously had to go through to claim for their benefits.

    The online application now changes that to a few steps on one’s mobile phone, laptop or PC. However, both the online and offline processes will co-exist and be available to all beneficiaries. What the online process brings to the table is mostly convenience that one is able to file for benefits and be able to track the progress on the go, without ever needing to visit a physical NSSF branch. With that said, here is how to submit a claim for NSSF benefits online;

    How to claim for NSSF benefits online?

    • Step 1: Download the NSSFGO Mobile or Web Application on your preferred device.
    • Step 2: Scroll to the benefits section and toggle “Benefits Application.”
    • Step 3: Fill in your application details that include the benefit type, preferred payment option, bank, employment, address, and supporting documents to submit your application. 

    After submission, the beneficiary is able to track the benefits claims until payment is made!

    It should be noted that the beneficiaries have to meet a certain criteria for eligibility of the different benefits as below;

    • Age Benefit; paid on the attainment of retirement age of 55 years.
    • Withdrawal Benefit; paid to a member who attains the age of 50 years if he or she has not been employed under a contract of service for a period of one year immediately preceding his or her claim.
    • Exempted Employment; paid to a contributing member who joins employment categories that are exempted
    • Emigration Grant; paid to a contributing member who has been working in Uganda and is leaving the country permanently. It is paid to both Ugandans and non-Ugandans.
    • Invalidity Benefit; paid to a contributing member who has lost his/ her earning capacity due to physical or mental incapacitation as will be certified by a medical doctor.

    Other self-service platforms available to customers include the E-collections Portal that allows employers to remit their employees’ contributions directly to their NSSF accounts through the Bank, the Mobile Money Platform for contributions payment by the Fund’s Voluntary savers.
