How to send a WhatsApp message to a person not saved in your contact list

WhatsApp is one of the most popular chat application used by Ugandans and probably in Africa. With the simplicity it brings in keeping people connected together via their smartphones. I personally find it annoying that in order to chat with someone via WhatsApp, you always have to first add that person in your contact list, but there are so many occasions where you just want to communicate with someone for a couple messages and nothing else especially if it’s going to be a one time communication.

It shouldn’t be that difficult to send messages through WhatsApp without saving the contact. The downside of using other third party apps for this is that they pose to be a security threat to the functionality of your smartphone. They might also be incompatible with certain operating systems.

To help you resolve this issue, we’ll show you how to send messages through WhatsApp without having to add the contact to your address book. And best of all, this method doesn’t require that you install other apps and it works for both iOS and Android operating systems.

Lets send a WhatsApp message without saving a contact

Truth be told, the process may at first glance seem somewhat confusing for users who are less savvy via using their smartphones. But once you complete the process one time, it becomes routine.

    1. Open your preferred browser on your smartphone.
    2. Type the following link in the search bar: https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=XXXXXXXXXXX (In place of the Xs type the phone number of the person you want to contact, including the country code, but without the + sign.)
    3. That means that if the person has a Ugandan number (with the +256 prefix), it would look something like this: https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=2567xxxxxx
    4. Press ‘enter‘ on your smartphone.
    5. A WhatsApp window will open asking if you want to send a message to that phone number. Press on ‘send message‘.
    6. You will automatically be redirected to WhatsApp with the ‘start chatting‘ window to the person you entered in your phone.

So anytime you want to get in touch with someone via WhatsApp without hustling to add them into your contact list there you go.
