    How to get started with Airtel’s Kwata Essimu smartphone credit scheme

    Airtel Uganda partnered with MasterCard, Asante, and Samsung to introduce Kwata Essimu — a pay on-demand service that will enable individuals and SMEs to afford smartphones on a hire purchase basis at low cost while distributing payments over a period of time.

    Customers will choose a loan repayment plan of either 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, or tenure of 10 months. Don’t expect to get a high-end Galaxy S series smartphone with Kwata Essimu –as this is limited to entry-level Samsung Smartphones in the A series like the Galaxy Core A3 or A11.

    In order to enjoy Kwata Essimu, you must be an Airtel Money registered customer such that you are able to pay back your loan. Your reputation on the mobile financial service platform will be translated into the kind of smartphone model you can get on credit.

    Also, ‘Wewole’ users who have a great track record of loan repayment will be used as a basis to determine which smartphone you can acquire. However, if you wish to grab a free Airtel Smartphone at a cost of paying back in your preferred period. Lets get you started;

    • Dial *284*49#
    • Your current eligibility status will be displayed, if you’re eligible, you can select preferred smartphone (on the list of options)
    • Choose your preferred Smartphone model
    • Once selected, visit your nearest Airtel service center with an original National ID card to pick your Smartphone
    • Finished: At the Airtel service center, you’re be required to sign final paperwork + an initial payment in order to receive your brand new Smartphone and pay back later
