You can add up to five family members who live with you to your Premium Family plan. Up to 6 separate Premium accounts for people who live together at a cost of UGX 16,000 per month. Each person on the plan uses their own account, so no one shares a password and everyone keeps their own saved music and playlists.
Premium Family comes with:
- Family Mix – a playlist based on the tastes of everyone on the plan.
- Explicit filter – the plan’s manager can choose if members get explicit music filtered.
All family members on Spotify Premium get their own personal Premium account (so they don’t need to worry about asking for your username and password).

Starting a Premium Family plan
The person who wants to manage the plan signs up. They can use their existing account or create a new one. It should be noted that you can’t change the plan manager once they’ve signed up.
Starting a plan means only you can:
- Handle payments
- Set the address
- Invite and remove members
- Control explicit music filtering
If you already have a Premium account with a partner company (e.g your phone or internet provider), you first need to cancel with them and wait for your current Premium to end.
If they don’t have an account yet, they can create one as they join. If they do have an account, they can join your plan and keep all of their playlists and saved music. If they already have Premium, they will no longer be billed.

As you signup to change plans to the family plan, you will be prompted to input your address and also ensure this is the same address you give your family members. You can therefore share the link to the members that Spotify provides via messenger, WhatsApp or via email.
Joining a Premium Family plan
To join someone else’s family plan, you must:
- Live with the plan manager (the person who signed up) as Spotify keeps track of this location data to validate your residence.
- Log into (or sign up for) your own account
- Enter the correct address
The plan manager reserves the right to manage all users of this family account as shown below.

Members can only switch Family plans once a year.
