At some point, we all choose to adapt to the latest Gadgets and new solutions shipped in as features for this particular group. But then, It’s absurd how we choose to lock our phones in a bid revoke unauthorized access.
Although manufacturers are now embarking on fingerprints, irises, and faces as the ultimate options to unlock your phone, the analog ways of locking and unlocking your phone are effective than they used to be. Heck even several operating systems like Android Go now ship with effective recovery options to replace your fingerprint or face ID with a pattern/password just in case of a lockout.
On the rave of Andoird smartphones to the market, by 2010 patterns turned screen locks into a play yard with only a swipe to unlock direction. But then, before this Lazy screen lock type came into play! Everyone was used to the old pin type evidenced on feature phones. However, as the iPhone 5S shipped engineered the fingerprint sensor volution, we have all been reluctant on the old system in favor of face/fingerprint recognition technologies.
Among the reasons why an old option like a Pin lock is by far more effective is that unless someone knows your passcode or you have an obvious one like 0000 or 1234, It’s very hard to guess what your passcode is, which is not the same as the newly hyped methods of securing your phone.
As a matter of fact, newer forms of unlocking your phone are pretty convenient but pose untold limitations. For instance, a close stranger can either use your finger to unlock your phone when you’re asleep or unknowingly obtain your fingerprint mappings to successfully log in.

Face unlock is also not 100% secure since your identity can be fooled with photos evidenced on much cheaper phones. In addition, If you prefer Face unlock as a method to lock your smartphone, then you must be holding a high-end or super mid-range tier smartphone like the Camon X or iPhone X. Nonetheless, Apple’s recent Iris scanner could be the only super effective method you can surely rely on alongside your pin/passcode as it scans an Iris instead of the Face.
Our Verdict
In a nutshell, adopting new technologies and exciting lock screen features is not necessarily an ugly move. However, Old is always better and Pins or passcodes must not be ignored whenever you wish to securely lock up your phone. More so, online services still quench your account for a strong password and in return applying the policy to your smartphone could turn your mobile privacy into a peace flexed zone.
