We are yet to know the exact name of the Android alternative that Huawei is building. So far, we have learnt of Oak, Ark, HongMeng, and now Harmony OS – all possible names for the operating system that may launch later this year or early next year.
In an application, which was filed Friday last week and currently under examination, the Chinese tech company has filed a trademark application with the European Union Intellectual Property Office registering the name to refer to their OS – Harmony.

Huawei had, in May, filed the “HongMeng” trademark applications in almost every possible intellectual property organizations around the globe, starting with China’s Trademark Office of national intellectual property administration, that was approved on May 14.
We have already acknowledged that the OS will be used across a variety of Huawei devices beyond just mobile phones and these include tablets, network switches, routers, servers, smartphones, and other internet-connected devices.
Additionally, we are aware that Huawei is launching its Android Q-based EMUI 10 this August. So, we wait to discover what more the new OS will have to offer.
We learnt from some reports that of the “ARK OS” trademark in other regions than Europe. Several of these reports suggest that research and development of the system has already started and that it has been tested in some parts of China. However, there is still no confirmed date for launch, but it is likely be later this year.
