    Govt extends SIM card registration exercise

    You now have an extra month

    With less than a few hours to the SIM card re-registration deadline set by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), the Prime Minister of Uganda Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda has called for an extension or the registration exercise that was due to end 20th April. The government has given the public and extra month to ensure that they are able to register their SIM cards with their respective carriers.

    In a letter to all stakeholders including the regulator UCC , the Prime Minister said “The Government has reviewed  the said timelines and taken a decision that the ongoing SIM card verification exercise should be extended to the 19th May 2017” See full letter below.
