    Google unveils, a new company called Calico: Its goal is to work on extending human life

    Google has today created a new company called Calico, which is tasked to make improvements in human wellness and health. They have appointed the chairman of Apple’s board and former CEO of Genentech, Art Levinson, as Calico’s CEO.

    According to Larry Page, Google CEO, in a statement  “Illness and aging affect all our families, With some longer term, moonshot thinking around healthcare and biotechnology, I believe we can improve millions of lives.” No one seems to be clear exactly what  Calico will do as we nothing is clear about the kinds of  products and projects the company would engage into.

    An Apple and Google collabo

    This announcement breaks the ice between Google and apple as it marks a unique partnership between the two tech rival bulls in the kraal. In an interview about the new company with Time, Page suggests that even curing cancer won’t go as far as he would like to see Calico go. “Are people really focused on the right things?” he said. “One of the things I thought was amazing is that if you solve cancer, you’d add about three years to people’s average life expectancy. The company thinks that curing cancer as this huge thing that’ll totally change the world.
