Google to reportedly spend over $ 1 billion on Global Satellite internet

The rumors are based on the fact that Google has been hiring new staff from satellite companies in an effort to get its space internet plans running. The founder of satellite startup O3b Networks, Greg Wyler is reportedly running the show. The WSJ further reports that the project might cost as high as $3 billion as Google makes changes to the network and revises the number of satellites especially in areas where internet is a scarce resource.

Facebook said it was experimenting with a method like this in March, confirming that it was working on drones that could fly autonomously at 65,000 feet for months at a time using solar cells.
