Google Maps for iOS and Android gets a material redesign update

Google will this week unleash it’s new redesign for it’s maps application for both iOS and Android. This update will roll out over the next few days, and will be overhauled to fit in line with Material Design, a new style that’s been quickly making its way in most Google apps in the recent Android 5.0 OS update. There is no mention on whether the iPad will benefit from this upcoming update.

Google is also building in support for OpenTable a service mainly used in the USA. Open table allows  people  book a reservation at any restaurant that supports it. That too should be a pretty helpful integration, making Maps a lot more powerful through Google’s willingness to lean on popular, third-party services for new functionality.
