As brands showcased their latest gadgets at the Mobile World Congress, Google announced the addition of its Assistant service into the Messages app in Android, Google Maps worldwide, and adding more supported languages.
Precisely what Google is trying to do for Messages is to make suggestions on anything, as you conduct a conversation with a friend or relative. This could be a relief after the death of Allo.
During a conversation, there will be an AI-generated suggestion chip pop up which when clicked shares information with whoever you’re chatting to. You will be able to see suggestions about movies, restaurants, and weather.
The success of this will likely depend on whether the person you’re chatting with is using SMS, MMS, or RCS.
Google initially added Assistant to Maps in January though it has been limited to users in the US. The company now plans to expand this feature in all languages currently supported by Assistant.
This Implies that motorists globally will be able to get driving directions, make calls, listen to music, as well as send and read text messages through voice command alone.
Bilingual Assistant support is also going to expand from six languages to 12. Previously, Google would let you choose between English, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, and Italian. Now, Assistant will also be able to support Korean, Hindi, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, and Dutch.
Google also announced that more Android phones will have a Google Assistant button, and also Google Assistant will be getting voice typing on KaiOS feature phones.
