    Google acquires Thermostat and Protect smoke detector, company Nest for $3.2 billion

    New week new acquisition, this week Google bought Nest Labs, a company that makes Thermostats and Protect smoke detectors, for $3.2 billion in cash. According to a Google press release, the acquired company will continue to operate on their own under the leadership of co-founder and CEO Tony Fadell; co-founder Matt Rogers will also make the move to Google. The search Giant says it expects the sale to close within the next few months.

    We are yet to find out what plans google has for Nest but its acquisition already signifies that it is an important part of its future. A combination of Nest’s home solutions coupled with Google’s language recognition could give Google its strongest path yet into your home.
