Get double Safe Boda Credits by recharging using Mobile Money. Find out how here

Safe Boda is more like Uber but on two wheels, employing the popular Boda Bodas that have come to define many streets and roads of Uganda. It has been around since 2015 enabling Kampalans get across this bustling city on two wheelers.

Initially, it launched as a cash only service  but later on introduced credits which riders can purchase using both MTN Mobile  and Airtel Money. This enabled many of their users to ride cashless and avoid any associated risks and inconveniences of the payment medium like change issues.

Not particularly new but Safe Boda now rewards users that buy credits using both Airtel and MTN Mobile Money on the 1st of every month with double the amount. Let us say you’re buying credits worth UGX 50,000, you will instead get UGX 100,000 as a bonus from the boda hailing service.

There has never been a better date to buy Safe Boda credits than every 1st of every month. Safe Boda prefers to call this Monthly Madness.

Given the prevalent situation of Mobile Money in everyday Ugandan lives, it makes sense as to why Safe Boda chose the medium over lets say cash. We are however still waiting for the service to introduce card payments more like other ride hailing services in the transport business that employ cash and cards.
