Samsung always has its own skin on-top of the default Android experience and today the company has started rolling one its latest One UI 3.0 update starting with the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Plus, according to SamMobile. The latest update is based on the shinny new, Android 11.
One UI 3.0 has some specific feature changes and some small visual and interface tweaks to Samsung smartphones. The update is available on the 2019 Note 10 devices in some countries including; Germany, Spain, and Switzerland. We expect a wider release at some point early 2021.
The beta testing for the One UI 3.0 started mid 2020 following the release of Android 11, and it’s been at various stages of availability for different smartphones depending on your region. The Note 10 and Note 10 Plus versions have been available in beta since October, and in early December Samsung began its official rollout of the update to phones in its Galaxy S20 line, with plans to bring the update to its foldables and Samsung’s 2019 devices in the “coming weeks.”
One UI 3.0 features
One UI 3.0 lets you turn off the screen by double-tapping in an empty area anywhere on the Home screen. The Dynamic Lock screen has support for more categories now while the ability to customize the call screen has also been added. Take a look at the full One UI 3.0 changelog below.
Accessibility
Samsung has added quick access to the most important accessibility settings to the device setup process. In the Settings menu, accessibility shortcuts can be set more easily. Sound detectors work with SmartThings devices such as a Samsung Smart TV and lights.
Bixby Routines and Photo Editor
You can use grouped preset Bixby Routines to start using the feature and learn to build them quickly. Samsung now lets you see what actions are reversed when a routine ends. New actions and conditions have been added to Bixby Routines.
Camera
The company claims that it has improved the performance of autofocus on the Galaxy S20 series and improved the stabilization while capturing images of the moon at high zoom levels.
Contacts, Messages, and Phone
One UI 3.0 brings along the option to quickly delete duplicate contacts. The Contacts app’s search experience has been improved, and the Trash Bin feature has been added in the Messages app.
Calendar and Reminders
With the latest version of the Calendar app in One UI 3.0, events with the same start and end times are shown together in Agenda and Month views.
Digital Wellbeing and Parental Controls
Samsung has added trends to the weekly Digital Wellbeing report so that you can see how your usage has changed compared to the previous week. You can even check your usage time for each feature.
Home Screen, Lock Screen, Quick Panel, and AOD features
You can touch and hold an app to add an associated widget and turn off the screen by double-tapping an empty area on the home screen. Samsung has also added more Dynamic Lock screen options and improved lock screen widgets.
Internet
The South Korean firm’s internet browser has received a bunch of improvements with One UI 3.0, including the ability to block websites from redirecting to another page when you tap the back button.
After this release, it means that a One UI 3.0 release for the Z Fold, Z Fold 2, and Z Flip shortly, as well as wider availability of the update on the Note 10 line in Asia and Africa.
