Huawei has unveiled its very own credit card called the Huawei Card. This is a direct response to Apple’s Apple Card, which is very popular in the west especially in the United States. Even if the details about Huawei card are still scanty, we have collected everything that is known about it in comparison with Apple’s product and share this information with you.
Huawei Card will be released in both physical and virtual forms. The virtual version can be released through the Huawei Pay application. The physical card from the Chinese phone maker unlike the Apple Card, will support NFC contactless payments. So you can pay for purchases even if your smartphone runs out.
The Huawei Card transactions will mainly be done by Union Pay as the basis of their payment system under which it will operate. The Huawei Card, like the Apple’s product, will be a credit card. So, not everyone will be able to issue it, but only long time users of Huawei smartphones with a good credit history.
Unlike Apple, the Huawei Card will be paid. So far, the cost of annual maintenance has not been unveiled by the company, but it is known that the first year will be free. It will use the same security protocols as Huawei Pay, in addition to classic security mechanisms like 3D Secure, etc.
Obviously, the Huawei Card, is an exact replica of the Apple Card, but is not aimed at competing with the Apple solution as it will operate it different regions. It will also be very hard for Chinese’s phone maker users to entice Apple Card users. It means that the Chinese pursued another goal, which consisted in the expansion of their influence. This will help Huawei have access to information about the payments of their customers. We are still wondering whether the Card will gain an advantage over Google as it does not have such a product in the west.
