Everything you need to know about Huawei’s forthcoming P30 flagship

The end of March is always a red carpet event in Paris, to make way for yet another of the P series from Huawei. Last year’s P20 was indeed worth the wait, proving to be the year’s most exciting new phone at launch, and bringing on board three rear cameras plus an ‘iPhone X-esque’ notch.

This year, the eyes are off that and are now focusing on the new bride – the P30. It’s been months of teasing with leaks and commercials over social media platforms on how smart the new releases are. But all this has been directed to the launch event slated for tomorrow, March 26th.

Huawei has not given a lot of detail about the devices, but amidst all that, there’s a lot to get excited about the forthcoming Huawei P30 and P30 Pro models; after all, leaks don’t lie!

    Huawei P30 Specifications

Based on the constant leaks and renders making rounds, the P30 is likely to be 6.1-inch smartphone, with a lot of focus put on the camera setup. It’s likely to have four camera sensors – including three on the rear (20 MP ultra-wide, 40 MP main/wide and an 8 MP 10X hybrid telephoto) and a 32 MP front selfie camera.

The P30 will be able to record in 4K, with the 10X hybrid zoom sensor adding detail to the imagery. It will run on 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage

    Huawei P30 Pro Specifications

The pro version is predicted to have a 6.47-inch display, and comes with a triple-camera setup on the rear; though with a periscope telephoto camera instead of the telephoto lens on the P30.

On the Pro, there is an additional time-of-flight 3D camera that lets one to map their environment with accuracy, as well as to use in mixed reality (MR), virtual reality (VR), or even augmented reality (AR) applications.

Huawei states that the new flagship will be in position to offer better low-light video recording, and leaks have pointed at another new feature of the P30 Pro called “Dual-View Video” where the phone can record two clips at the same time.

Reports indicate that Huawei’s consumer page suggested the dual video feature will not be available on the P30 Pro at launch, but rather post-launch in an update.

The P30 pro will have 8GB of memory and 128GB, 256GB and 512GB of storage based on variants available.

Both the P30 and P30 Pro will be powered by the Kirin 980 processor, with support for wireless charging. They as well both will have a nano memory card slot that can add up to 256 GB more storage.

There is also no fingerprint sensor apparent in the leaks, a significance of an in-display reader for the forthcoming flagships.

    Availability

The P30 series will be available for pre-order upon launch and unveiling in Paris, and ship in early April.
