As part of its mission, Eversend, helps individuals all around the world access affordable and convenient financial services. In times like these, the company wants to ensure that their customers not only have access to financial services but also that they remain financially secure.
Around the world, refugees, people living in poverty or without access to healthcare face the greatest risk from COVID-19. People who have access to the internet and smartphones have multiple sources of information but those who are offline have little or no access to verified information. The greatest risk as the world deals with this pandemic may be misinformation.
That’s why Eversend has decided to repurpose their technology to help people and communities to prepare for and protect against the coronavirus outbreak providing safe, reliable information to vulnerable and overlooked groups of the population.
Eversend has built a symptom checker on their USSD channel in Uganda. It will be reporting capabilities for anyone who may have symptoms of COVID-19. They are also collecting locations so that if a serious case is found, information can be relayed to the Ministry of Health instantly for contact and onward case management. We can deploy this platform in multiple African countries if we partner with their Ministries of Health, telecommunication companies, other startups and non-profit organizations like WHO.
Eversend is also giving money to their customers in their social media promotions dubbed #EversendFriday via Twitter or Instagram and they send $3-$10 to winners. They will be doing the promotions more frequently in the coming weeks to help send a smile to their members under the coronavirus lockdown.
