MTN Uganda has appointed Enid Edroma to the position of General Manager for the company’s corporate Affairs. The development comes at a time when the telco’s top executives are being kept under watch over circumstances that the Police is yet to make public.
Ms. Edroma started her career in corporate legal service with Shell Uganda from October 2003, until when she joined Celtel/Zain Uganda in January 2007 as the head of legal and regulatory affairs.
She would later join Smile Communications Uganda in May 2009 as the GM Commercial Legal Services, before becoming the Board Secretary and Director Legal for the National Identification Registration Authority – a post she served from June 2016 to 2018.
On June 22 2018, MTN Uganda announced the appointment of Ms. Edroma as the head legal and regulatory department. At the time, her predecessor Anthony Katamba was named the General Manager, Corporate Affairs.
But the supposed internal rift at the telco, and a series of accumulating troubles with authorities, resulted in Mr. Katamba losing his place at the company. In Effect, Ms. Edroma will now assume the position.
Enid Edroma’s appointment is another of those that have been made, and she follows Mr. Gordian Kyomukama, who was appointed to act as the company’s Chief Executive Officer after the deportation of Wim Van Halleputte.
Mr. Wim’s deportation was in relation to the saga that has been haunting MTN Uganda’s top staff of late. Police reffered to the situation as “similar circumstances of national security”, which have been a serious bug keeping the telco in news headlines over the past couple of weeks.
