Africell is one of the dominant voice and data providers giving top telecoms some great competition in all aspects. When Government unveiled its OTT tax law last year, Africell was left with an option but to either make its mobile money version to measure up to its competitors or roam on other networks as well.
The orange telecom chose to roam with other networks and keeping OTT purchases local at the same time. So, we have a brief compilation of how you can choose to dodge any barriers towards your OTT purchase on Africell. Here is how you can easily spend a fish coin to regain access to OTT services.
Dial *133#
Just like any other telco on the local scene, you can buy OTT through the Africell main data shortcode *133#. Simply choose option 6 and hover through the validity periods to recharge with Airtime. Here is a break down of the code.
- Dial *133#
- Select option 6
- Choose validity
- Confirm OTT purchase
Using Africell Money
Africell has its own mobile money version and it’s quite affordable compared to other telco options though it doesn’t grant you with a tax-free pass either. Through Africell money, choose Airtime and bundles then select OTT tax and approve purchase once you have enough balance above UGX 200.
Using MTN momo or Airtel money
MTN Mobile money and Airtel money are the two most popular procedures you can use to recharge your OTT status on Africell. Simply dial *185# to select option 2 and choose OTT tax to select other number. Through the Other number option, feed in your Africell digits and approve with wallet pin to have your OTT delivered.
