E-Pine Pharmacy is an online pharmacy that sells medicines and medical equipment’s both at prescription using an Android app and over the counter. It also has retail and wholesale options with over 1,500 products available currently.
The idea was pioneered by Sseninde Julius a 22 year old pharmacy student at Uganda Institute of Allied Health and Management Sciences-Mulago formerly Mulago Paramedical Schools who has invented an online pharmacy.
As a pharmacy student at Mulago, Julius saw patients struggling to get access to medicines prescribed to them by doctors and to solve that, he thought of starting something where they could get access to all medicines. What about what he inspired him, he told Techjaja that;
“The prices of medicines in some retail pharmacies are slightly higher and that’s how E-Pine Pharmacy was started to see that patients get medicines at a lower prices.
Some people have got busy schedules which have not been favorable to them to get their medicines hence coming up with a platform to solve that problem. Lastly, self-employment as a youth inspired me to start up E-Pine Pharmacy.”

E-Pine Pharmacy app is available on Goggle play store and is about 4.3 MB in size with more than 100 downloads and counting. When a person downloads the app, they will be prompted to create an account, select the medication they need, make and order which will be delivered by them to your door step around Kampala. They plan to s to serve the all country through getting established in the newly approved cities.
There are plans to come up with an iOS version of the app to also cater for their clients using iPhone plus the website which is under development.
Julius told us that they have been able to achieve this by going into partnerships with several pharmacies as their suppliers and they have also made some deliveries to a few clients who have ordered. Look at them as a Jumia for delivering any medical prescriptions.
Speaking about his current challengers Julius said;
The main challenge I have forced is the lack of funds which has hindered my progress and am calling up development partners for support.
