Have you realized that it is not an easy job to search for a specific text in a pile of images or PDF file, the way you would for a word document? Well, someone got to know of this problem and a solution is here.
Dropbox has announced a new feature to let you scan PDF documents and images as well as search for text in those documents. The condition is that you’ll need to have a premium account to utilize it.
This optical character recognition feature is designed in a way that if you are looking for a photo or PDF, you just have to type in an English keyword or phrase in the search area. The files that contain those words or phrases will be shown including those “you’ve added in the past, and the files you’ll add in the future.”
These files include JPEG, static GIF, PNG, TIFF, PDF files, as well as normal documents you may have in Dropbox and the service has only been made available to Dropbox Professional, Business Advanced, and Enterprise accounts.
“This new feature harnesses the power of our machine intelligence capabilities to make search smarter for you,” writes the cloud storage provider.
Dropbox has made the file indexing much easier with the feature designed to stop extracting and indexing text after 10 pages. Business Advanced and Enterprise admins can access the admin console for early access, while Professional users will receive it in the coming months.
So you won’t have to worry about keeping files in only word documentation, you can as well save the PDFs and keep screenshots in your Dropbox.
