If you have been observant, there are literally three things that Ugandans look out for in the socialite class. Money, news, and… nudes. From the initial Desire Luzinda images that leaked and caused a jam all over social media platforms, every new pop up comes with its own tales – memes and prayers all attached.
The world was about to rest the case of the rather popular ‘Sure List’ when nude photos of comedian Martha Kay surfaced in an alleged leak. Unconfirmed reports indicate that her phone could have been stolen, after which the photos were shared maliciously.
The reactions on Twitter and WhatsApp are increasingly humourous with many tweeps making memes and relations out of the entire situation. Take a look at these.
Martha Kay joins a long list of Ugandan celebrities whose NSFW images have surfaced in the public, and the main distribution point of these all is social media.
Porn ban never stops Ugandans
Pornographic content is not entertained in Uganda and the regulatory body, UCC has always warned the citizens against spread and use of such material over social media platforms. Since 2015, the Ugandan government has put up a red flag on sites that promote any sort of porn – though the action against these is still wanting.
The government promised to bring in a porn detection machine which was to prohibit the sharing and spreading of any illicit images and videos but the entire pledge has never been fulfilled. According to last year’s report by thenextweb, smartphone users consume millions of GBs of pornography on a daily basis, and this includes nude images and videos that leak such as those of Martha Kay.
