Music streaming platform Spotify made its way this side of the Sahara early this year. This came years after other apps like Apple Music and Tidal had been some of the major streaming platforms that have been available in Uganda. The expansion into Africa comes after Nigerian music had become so global for the Swedish firm to ignore it anymore. Ugandan Spotify Playlists is a great way to promote our local content and support the artists in these lockdown times.
This has prompted several Ugandans to cook up music playlists on the streaming platform. Playlists can be as long as two hours of purely produced Ugandan music. Listeners can also choose to block explicit content. They have to select from a plethora of different lists. One has to select the playlist based on their “vibe” or mood you can even use it as workout music, meaning whether they “need motivation,” feel like dancing, or are zen. Finally, they’ll select the music genres they want to hear.
Spotify has also recently unveiled a new personalized mix, aimed at bringing subscribers more of the same kind of music they already know and love this means the more you will listen to these Ugandan playlists the more it will be recommended to you. The new personalized mixes would include mixes based on artists you love, genres you like, or even time periods.
Let’s have a look at several Ugandan playlists you must check out. (Please note that you must have a Spotify subscription to listen to them). Also, feel free to suggest your favorite playlists in the comment section below.
