Check out these amazing GIFs of Pope Paul VI’s visit to Uganda in 1969

The Pope is coming to Uganda. For our throwback this week; the year was 1969 –am positive majority of readers were not yet born including the author of this post (hides face) — crowds of people waiting at airport for arrival of Pope Paul VI. Girl dancers warming up for Pope’s arrival and men beating shells with straw. Ground to air shot of the Pope’s aircraft (VC-10) flying over Entebbe International airport with several officials waiting for Pope’s arrival led by the “Chief waiter” President Milton Obote and his wife waiting. Pope comes out of the VC-10 and waves to the crowds.  He meets officials, the clergy, with crowds applauding.

The GIFs will show various shots of crowds lining along the streets waving and applauding as the Pope waving from his car (Queen royal wave style) on route to the Kololo terrace, Parliament, and Namugongo Catholic Shrine.  Thanks to the British Pathe, the team at Techjaja has used the wonderful 1987 image technology depicting the amazing (Graphics Interchange Format) GIFs of the historic 1969 Pope’s visit. We hope shall make similar GIFs for Pope Francis  who will be the third Pope to visit Uganda this week.
