    Brazil’s World Cup defeat to Germany sets Twitter Record

    According to Soccer America, Last night’s Brazil-Germany match that ended with 1-7 in favor  of Germany has broken the record for the most discussed single sports game ever on Twitter recording over 35.6 million tweets. America’s 2014 Super Bowl game had been the highest with 24.9 million tweets.

    In just six minutes German’s Sami Khedira scored his first goal and also in the 29th minute — a record fourth German goal in six minutes and the fifth goal to cap the fastest five goals ever to start a World Cup match — set a record for tweets per minute (580,166).

    The last 2014 World Cup game to create such buzz on twitter was between Brazil-Chile match that went into penalties: scored over 16.4 million tweets.
