German and Japanese companies, BMW and Toyota will build a cooperative platform for sports cars, this comes after a year-long feasibility study into the potential team spirit. According to the  BMW’s development chief,  the resulting car from each brand will be “authentic”.

Last year the two companies signed a  “memorandum of understanding” where they examined the possibility  of shared sports car components. The agreement this year was intended to combine the best of Toyota’s efficiency technology with BMW’s legacy in dynamic driving performance.

We hope both companies will bring out those skill-sets  to be emphasized in the final sports cars that bear each brand name’s badging. “What is important is that there will be two different vehicles” BMWs Herbert Diess said this week, Reuters reports, “that are authentic to the two brands.”
