Belle Beauty is using FinTech to transform Beauty and Ticketing

Belle Beauty is making waves in the FinTech sector by transforming the beauty and ticketing industries in Uganda. Launched in January 2024, this digital platform connects beauticians with customers, offering a user-friendly experience that goes beyond just beauty services.

The journey of Belle Beauty began during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Founder Alice Sharon Namugerwa saw a gap in the market when beauty services became scarce due to lockdowns. Initially, the plan was simple: link beauty service providers with customers. However, with movement restrictions in place, Namugerwa pivoted to develop a digital platform where customers could connect with beauticians virtually.

In 2021, she registered her team for the HiPipo Women in FinTech Hackathon, which featured over 20 women-led teams. By the end of the event, Belle Beauty had a minimum viable product (MVP) ready for the market.

    A multifaceted platform

Belle Beauty has evolved significantly since its inception. Initially focused solely on beauty services, the platform now offers a comprehensive suite of features, including the sale of beauty products and event ticketing.

“In simple words, Belle Beauty is a digital platform that connects its users to beauty and lifestyle solutions,” explains Ashley Ainomugisha, the Publicity Relations Officer for Belle Beauty.

The app is available for download on both Google Play and the Apple Store, allowing users to easily place orders for products, services, or tickets.

“When one downloads the Belle Beauty APP and registers, they can start to place their orders; be it products or services or tickets,” Ainomugisha elaborates. Customers can complete transactions through mobile money or bank transfers, ensuring a seamless experience from order to payment.

    Impact and growth

Since its launch, Belle Beauty has attracted over 2,000 unique customers and partnered with more than 100 service providers, product manufacturers, and distributors.

The platform not only supports local beauticians but also promotes Ugandan-made products, thereby contributing to the country’s economy.
