Apple hiring for iWatch tipped for late 2014 arrival: Financial Times

We are still not sure if the rumors of Apple coming up with a watch are concrete but a new report in the  Financial Times today says that Apple has significantly stepped up hiring in a bid to engineer its long-rumored smartwatch.

The so called iWatch has been rumored in the past with a release date for later this year, but it seems Apple might be hitting a slight snag with development of the new wearable device, and are bringing in more expert engineers and developers.

The report goes on to say that CEO Tim Cook could still scrap the project, since Apple has done the same for numerous projects in the past, but the company’s persistence on trademarking the iWatch name in several countries so far says that Apple may be serious about releasing their own smartwatch.  If this report from the FT turns out to the positive, it will leave opportunity for Google, Samsung, and smaller
players like Pebble and MetaWatch to make a splash over the course of the next one year.
