    Android Auto makes more strides in Africa

    In 2014, Google announced Android Auto, its software system for cars. It has been used in the west but today it is extending to several new markets around the world including Africa. It has been available in South Africa but now will be available in two new African countries. In the coming months, Android Auto will also be available in 36 additional countries, including much of Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia.

    Here’s the list of countries that will soon be getting Android Auto:

    • Africa: Angola, Botswana
    • Europe: Albania, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Portugal, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Luxembourg, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Ukraine
    • Asia: Turkey, Thailand, Indonesia

    This is now a total of 72 countries where Android Auto is currently available. Including;

    • Dominican Republic
    • Ecuador

    This means Google has doubled the number of countries in the world where customers can access Android Auto. With the latest Android Auto release in version 11, smartphone owners can now connect wirelessly to Android Auto, as long as the connecting vehicle includes a head unit that supports 5GHz Wi-Fi.

    Google is also working with automakers to produce more cars with natively installed Android Auto.
