Android 15 is coming. Here’s what we know so far

Google has officially introduced Android 15, unveiling the first developer preview to kickstart the journey towards the next major update of the operating system. This initial release offers a glimpse into the improvements in privacy, security, and performance that users can anticipate. While not all features are disclosed in this preview, it sets the stage for what’s to come in subsequent builds.Privacy takes precedence in Android 15 with enhancements to the Privacy Sandbox initiative, aimed at limiting user data accessible to websites and apps for targeted advertising. Additionally, new APIs empower developers to optimize app performance and reduce power consumption, particularly for those with intensive background operations.Third-party apps, like Snapchat and Instagram, will gain more control over device camera hardware, akin to features available in native camera apps, potentially elevating the quality of images captured within these apps. Android 15 also introduces the ability to record content from specific apps, rather than the entire interface, enhancing usability.Read About: A complete list of all Zip codes and Postal codes in UgandaHowever, not all features may seamlessly translate across all devices. For instance, while Pixel devices may fully support Android 15’s features, Samsung’s implementation of certain functionalities, such as screen recording, may differ due to its One UI overlay.Google plans to release two developer previews and four beta versions before the public rollout, expected after July for Pixel devices. Samsung users may experience a slight delay as the company adapts Android 15 to its One UI overlay, with additional features tailored to enhance user experience.Eligibility for Android 15 extends to most Samsung devices launched with Android 13, with some earlier devices eligible for upgrades. Notably, the Galaxy S24 series will debut with Android 15, promising seven major updates throughout its lifecycle.Read About: Entebbe International Airport Sets Record with High Passenger Traffic in January 2024
