    Amazon Launches Fire TV Streaming and Gaming Device in East Africa

    The Fire TV has landed, as Amazon has launched a TV streaming and gaming device called Fire TV in East Africa. The Device which can be plugged into a HDTV and enable users to enjoy Netflix, Prime instant video, Huku plus, ESPN as well as access to low cost video rentals.

    Amazon says the gadget that cost $99 (UGX 230,000) enables access to more than 200,000 television episodes and movies in addition to favorite subscriptions and streaming services. Users who enroll as prime members have unlimited access to thousands of popular movies and TV shows, including exclusives like Downton Abbey, The Americans, Alpha House, and Under the Dome.

    Among features of Fire TV include a voice search that reduces the need to scroll from your remote as well as ASAP that helps predicts what movies and TV episodes a particular user wants to watch and gets them ready to stream instantly reducing time used in buffering. As per the hardware specifications Fire TV has a quadcore processor, dedicated GPU, 2 GB of memory, dual-band, dual-antenna Wi-Fi as well as a fast, fluid interface, high definition 1080p video, and Dolby Digital Plus surround sound.

    Fire TV also has various blockbuster titles including Minecraft, The Walking Dead, Monsters University, the Amazon exclusive Sev Zero which can be accessed at an average prices $1.85. The games are as a result of a partnership with gaming firms such as Sega, EA, Disney with a number of android titles also expected in May.

    Amazon has also expanded its games studios to build custom-made games as the company takes the competitions straight to Google’s Chromecast and Apple TV.
