    Airtel Uganda launches Airtel TV

    Airtel Uganda is venturing into the entertainment industry with the a whole new product dubbed Airtel TV. While launching at Ndere Center in Ntinda, MD VG Somasekhar said that this is a one-stop-shop for all its customer’s entertainment. From Uganda, you will get all the live TV, movies, music, and the content is free of charge. All you need is a valid Airtel bundle. The launch comes a few days after MTN launched its partnership with YoTV Channels to avail affordable data bundles for streaming local content.

    It is clear Airtel is trying to harness the power of its 4G network whose recent UCC benchmark report indicated that they had the best speeds among all Mobile Networks. So it makes perfect sense to launch the Airtel TV product at this point.

    Infact in his speech Airtel MD said;

    All this wouldn’t have been possible without the support from UCC and the support from the government. I want to thank you and our customers for consistent support

    So if you are a movie producer, Airtel TV Is a platform to reach millions of customers in Uganda and monetize your content. We are not yet sure of the rate card the company will use, but with some content creators used to making content for better paying platforms like YouTube, we hope Airtel’s offer will match up. Airtel says that for a consumer, they are giving you world-class easy entertainment at no cost.

    Commenting about the launch of Airtel TV, Matthew Nabwiso, an actor says “As filmmakers, distribution is one of our biggest challenges, we’ve been looking for platforms like these where we can showcase our content. Thank you, Airtel and we look forward to seeing how this will grow our industry.”
