    Airtel launches the most affordable 4G smartphone in Uganda

    In 2015, Vodafone Uganda unveiled the saba simu which doubled as the first ever affordable 4G smartphone at an alarming price. Well, Airtel Uganda has today launched a similar offer for an even affordable 4G smartphone in Uganda. The phone retails for UGX200,000 only and comes with a value back offer to the customer of free 15GB of data worth UGX90,000 valid for 90 days

    In addition to the exclusive data bonus clocking at 5GB free per month for a period of 3 months. The phone comes with a free 4G SIM card, a one-year warranty and an offer of 200SMS Airtel to Airtel, 200MBs, 30 Minutes Airtel to Airtel calls and 500 UGX worth of Airtime on registration. However, this means for only UGX 200,000, you get more for less in device bonuses

    While Commenting about the new phone. Airtel’s Chief Commercial Officer Amit Kapur expressed excitement at the opportunities that an affordable smartphone will bring to subscribers

    “As a brand with a promise to improve lives, we believe that with an affordable smartphone we shall improve Ugandans’ lives through education, e-commerce, financial inclusion and the full offerings of Airtel Uganda’s reliable network,”

    Specifications of the new Airtel 4G smartphone

    Similar to the 2018 evolution of Android Go smartphones mainly dominated by Itel mobile which jerks with its S13 smartphone as the latest on the list. The Airtel 4G smartphone ships in Android 8.1 granting it extra space off the 8GB Internal memory and 1GB RAM. In addition, the phone camera seems to be a pay for what you see offer shipping in a front 2MP and back 5MP camera. Nonetheless, here is a break down of the specifications dump.

    Storage: 8GB ROM, 1GB RAM

    Operating System: Android 8.1

    Network: GSM/HSPA/LTE

    Battery: 1800MAh
