Aptech commenced its operations in Uganda in the year 1999 and over the years has trained over 17,000 students in East Africa. A former world bank advisor Varghese Mundamattam, says the school was heavily dependent on the financial support of promoters. “The Operation of Aptech was not making any economic sense for more than two years and was heavily dependent on the financial support of promoters,” he said.
The company’s business model has already been replicated by other virtual tech-learning firms like Pluralsight and Coursera that offer more value without the need to go to a physical school to study the course.
Aptech was the first IT Training and Education Organization in Asia to receive the ISO 9001:2000 certification for Education Support Services and is also certified under ISO 27001. Also, their content development conformed to SCORM 2000 standards.
