In August last year, four of the six East Africa member states which include Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan signed multilateral agreements to have one telecommunications framework dubbed as One Network Area. In Uganda, MTN and Airtel lead the way and implemented the One Area Network project. This week, Africell Uganda becomes the latest telecom network in Uganda to implement One Area Network.
All Africell subscribers will make calls to Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan for just UGX 5.5 per second. This means no more roaming fees will be charged for Africell subscribers making calls in those countries.
