Africell Uganda is giving out free data if you upgrade to a 4G-LTE SIM card

As the battle for the best and fastest mobile network in Uganda rages on, Africell is turning up the notch little higher. All Africell Uganda subscriber are receiving SMS messages that promise to give free data if you swap your current 3G SIM card and upgrade to a 4G-LTE capable SIM card. This will come bundled with  free 250MB of data, according to the SMS we have received below.
Africell SMS free data 4G SIM
Initially subscribers had to purchase the 4G SIMs if they wanted to upgrade and it came at a cost of about UGX 5,000 per SIM, but with this new promotion the SIM card is given to you for free plus extra data to go with it. The Former Orange Uganda’s promotion comes at time when MTN has just revamped it’s fast LTE network country wide with about 80 sites compared to Africell’s 4G network. Since 4G is faster than 3G, we shall expect several price wars among the 4G-LTE data players in market, something which is good for the customer.
