    Absa Uganda Digital Branch: All you need to know

    Absa Bank Uganda formerly Barclays Banks has today open the bank’s first fully digital branch at Jubilee Insurance Building on Parliamentary Avenue. The new Digital branch will offer customers greater convenience through self-service at automated digital platforms.

    To grace the event, the new digital branch was officially opened by Bank of Uganda Executive Director Supervision, Dr. Twinemanzi Tumubweine and Absa Bank Uganda’s Managing Director, Nazim Mahmood.

    Speaking at the event, Absa Bank Uganda Managing Director Nazim Mahmood said,

    “This digital branch will offer a more convenient, secure, personalized and engaging banking experience for our Business banking and Corporate customers. Using self-service terminals, customers can look forward to an even faster and cost-efficient banking experience.”

    Representing the Bank of Uganda, Dr. Tumubweine remarked that the banking industry is continuously being disrupted by technology and that Bank of Uganda appreciates the role that digital financial services play the in improving quality of banking services in Uganda.

    Absa Uganda digital branch services

    • 24/7 self-service terminals for all cash related transactions (withdrawals & deposits) using intelligent ATMs.
    • Bulk cash deposits using the self-service bulk cash depositor.
    • Utility bill payments.
    • Interbank and international funds transfers.

    The new digital branch will enable customers to print their own bank statements and transact on their own devices in the established free Wi-Fi zone. In case you need to talk to someone, there will be some customer service agents to help customers do their transactions at the digital branch.

    A new Absa chat bot

    On top of the new digital branch, Absa bank has also announced a whole new Absa Chatbot. This is basically a customer service solution that gives customers access to 24/7 replies to frequently asked questions via WhatsApp and the Absa website.

    For the WhatsApp users, all you need to do is simply save the number +256707433433 as Absa Bot and send a ‘Hello’ message to start chatting. The bank says that this will enable the customers to bank without ever having to leave their favorite messaging app.
