Netflix has recently announced subscription discounts for its services in several countries, including Uganda, making it more affordable than ever to watch favorite movies, TV shows, and Netflix originals. This represents a big change in the video streaming space over the past few months, with many of the major players increasing their prices. This has been mainly due to the rise in the costs of operation to new levels and the competition become fiercer.

Netflix will begin cutting pricing on its plans in regions like Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. The streaming media company will be offering new pricing on its Basic, Standard, and Premium plans. They will be giving discounts ranging anywhere from 13 to 60 percent or in my case they upgraded my existing plan standard plan to a premium plan at the same standard plan price ($9.99).
When it comes to which countries will receive a discount, we have shared a full list below. Of course, not all of these discounts are impressive, but typically any kind of price decrease should be celebrated, especially when plans are already quite costly. So if you’re located in any of the regions listed above, be sure to check out your Netflix bill.

The full list of territories where Netflix has dropped its pricing are:
Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Bangladesh, Belize, Benin, Bhutan, Bolivia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Botswana, British Indian Ocean Territory, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Christmas Island, Comoros, Congo – Brazzaville, Congo – Kinshasa, Côte d’Ivoire, Croatia, Cuba, Djibouti, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Fiji, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guatemala, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Indonesia, Iraq, Jamaica, Jordan, Kenya, Kiribati, Laos. Unfortunately for those in countries like the United States, this discount doesn’t apply, but it’s good to see Netflix making adjustments, as it tries to adapt to an ever-changing market.
While Netflix has raised its prices over the past year in other countries, with its most recent price increase occurring towards the beginning of last year in the USA, the company has also introduced new ad-supported and cost friendly plan to its service. The ad-supported tier is live and costs $6.99 per month in the ten countries where its available. While lower pricing in certain regions is nice, it’ll be interesting to see how the firm navigates the streaming landscape over the next couple of years.
