Huawei recently announced it’s new skin on top of Android known as EMUI 10 and the company had come out all guns blazing with several changes. We explored several features of the next version of Huawei’s Android based Operating system and now we can see several leaks over the internet. With The introduction of EMUI 10, Huawei wants to polish up its Android game something which Samsung have done with its One UI.
Thanks to folks and Huawei Central, lets have a first look at the the new EMUI 10 user interface.
Magazine Style User Interface (UI)
There is a new Magazine Style that has made it’s maiden appearance in EMUI 10, it basically arranges the screen in a lay out similar to a Magazine. There have been some aesthetic changes at the top which are bigger and pull the icons lower for reachability, although not as drastic as Samsung’s One UI. This leaves more White space, allowing a balance between interactive and informative content.

According to Huawei Central, the whole user interface is based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms that analyze the layout of the image, automatically compute the focus position of the image according to the different center of gravity of each picture, and then works out the best location to show the text in the picture based on its preference. This means the caption could display more content without blocking the key element of the photo.
We can see that this will apply in several areas of the interface including the Settings menu, Contacts, Notes, Notification panel and on other parts of the UI. The system animations are reportedly more fluid thanks for the new Ark compiler and processor power.
Colorful Always on Display (AOD)
Samsung pioneered the use of an Always-On Display feature thanks to its advanced use of AMOLED screen technology. AoD allows users to make changes to their phone’s lock screen to show time, date, battery status, notifications and more while the screen is off.

This feature is already available on the current EMUI 9 the difference now is that it will have some color. There will be some new gradient color scheme to the time and date text, added clock styles, clock widgets, and new widgets as shown above.
Whole new EMUI 10 Dark Mode
Dark Mode will be really dark in EMUI 10– as it has been revamped to be system wide and will add a new layer of experience.

As part of Android Q, EMUI 10’s Dark Mode is one of the biggest visual changes Huawei has made and will have some of its own changes on this feature that can be seen on the colors, icons, and style of the whole system theme.
To make it more appealing, Dark Mode now expanded to pre-installed applications including email, contacts, clock, photos, notepad. The company has also open Dark Mode API for app developer interested to add the support of this feature in their applications.
EMUI 10 will initially feature on the P30 Pro and mate 20 series 10 beta programs when they officially begin in September.
