How will the app impact the Boda-Boda political economy?

The pandemic has drastically shaped how average people interact with tech and adoption of tech-based solutions has shot through the roofs. With rumors having it that KCCA would only allow Boda-Boda riders’ in the city only when they are under an umbrella of a tech-driven solution(ride-hailing app) like SafeBoda or Uber, the Tugende client app comes at an optimal moment for the company to display its digital muscles.

Not a ride-hailing platform, but the App brings Tugende’s existing internal digital platform and digital innovation strengths to clients directly for the first time. Digital tools are crucial to how the company serves its MSME users.

This app will set a new bar to the customers and the boda-boda political economy as a whole, as the company continues to grow it’s finance products and related services, the app will be the focal point to the company’s ecosystems. It will reach a point where you wouldn’t have to walk to Tugende’s office in case you want to acquire any income-generating project from them.
