    Showmax rebrands with new logo and fresh subscription fees

    Showmax is gearing up to have its #NewShowmax launched in February 2024. This major overhaul comes complete with a fresh logo, revamped subscription packages, and the inclusion of the highly anticipated English Premier League, promising viewers an unmatched entertainment experience.

    The centerpiece of Showmax’s transformation is its visually captivating new logo, featuring a stylish “X” that symbolizes the convergence of diverse entertainment options offered by the platform. 

    Departing from the previous pink and turquoise palette, the new orange color exudes energy, vibrancy, and enthusiasm, capturing the essence of Showmax’s commitment to delivering exciting content.

    Fresh Showmax subscription fees

    Showmax has also restructured its subscription packages to cater to the diverse preferences of its audience. The inclusion of the English Premier League is a game-changer, solidifying Showmax’s position as a comprehensive streaming service. 

    The monthly subscription fees are as follows:

    • General Entertainment (All devices): ~UGX 20,000
    • General Entertainment (Mobile): ~UGX 12,000
    • Premier League (Mobile): ~UGX 16,000
    • Bundle (Entertainment + Premier League) Mobile: ~UGX 23,000

    A personalized Showmax streaming experience

    The rebranding and restructuring efforts underline Showmax’s commitment to delivering a personalized streaming experience. The new logo reflects a more playful and inviting brand image, while the updated subscription packages cater to users across different devices and preferences. 

    Showmax’s move to include the English Premier League demonstrates a strategic commitment to sports enthusiasts, offering them an affordable way to stay connected with their favorite football league.

    MultiChoice, the owner of Showmax, has leveraged its expertise in the African entertainment industry to position Showmax as the premier streaming platform on the continent. 

    The company’s focus on local and international content, a user-friendly interface, and competitive pricing have resonated strongly with audiences, surpassing even global giants like Netflix.

    With the launch of #NewShowmax and the new changes, a free subscription to Showmax will still be part of DStv Premium package. Also, 10 months ago Multichoice partnered with Comcast’s NBCUniversal and Sky. Through the deal the new Showmax has acquired access to titles from media giants and renowned brands; Universal Pictures, Focus Features, NBC, Peacock, DreamWorks Animation, Paramount and Telemundo.

    Richard Masters, Premier League CEO, applauded the initiative, saying, “We are delighted with this Showmax initiative, which puts the Premier League in your pocket at a new price point so that millions more can enjoy our fantastic competition.”

    Calvo Mawela, MultiChoice Group CEO, emphasized, “Nobody understands Africa like we do. Showmax is putting the continent first with a powerful streaming service that will revolutionize streaming in Africa in 2024.”

    As the streaming platform gears up for the February 2024 launch, the unveiling of Showmax 2.0 signifies a significant investment for the future. With a focus on affordability, a mobile-first approach, and an extensive content library, it aims to secure 50 million subscribers in the next five years. 

    The streaming giant’s strategic partnerships, including the recent collaboration with NBCUniversal, and its commitment to original content further strengthen its position in the face of increasing competition in Africa’s SVOD sector.
