Ugandan Startup Swipe2pay selected as finalist for Visa’s Everywhere Initiative

Swipe2pay was unequivocally attuned to the protocol and etiquette of building a successful startup in Uganda, and the world over. Consequently, the startup has been selected as finalist at Visa’s Everywhere Initiative in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Visa’s Everywhere Initiative explained

Visa’s Everywhere Initiative is a global open innovation program tapping into startup communities to drive regional business objectives. To curate the startup ecosystem for Visa clients and accelerate bigger and bolder ideas, enriching consumer experience.

This is the first Visa’s Everywhere Initiative in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Initiative offers participants a chance to win up to USD 50,000. Also, participants get a chance to have a support development program with Visa business or partnership with Visa’s partners.

Visa’s Everywhere Initiative aims at driving financial inclusion. One of the brief questions is:
How can your startup leverage Visa Developer APIs to either: Enable smaller merchants to accept payments in-store digitally OR Provide a safe and secure solution for online merchants to drive eCommerce and reduce cash on delivery?

What does Swipe2pay do?

Swipe2pay enables SMEs to accept both card and mobile money as a mode of payment and not only to accept payments but also make sense of their sales data, as a smarter of thinking about and running your business.

Swipe2pay has everything you need to start, run, and grow your business from your Android point-of-sale device.

The solution goes beyond payment processing in that it includes a free point-of-sale app and a free business intelligence portal, enabling business owners to monitor their store performance.

How Swipe2pay Works

  1. Download the Point of Sale app.
    2. Sign up.
    3. Add your products and organize your store.
    4. Start selling.

Swipe2Pay, led by Solomon King,  and is among the final 12 startups out of 300 applicants.  The program starts on the July 23, 2018 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Winners at Visa’s Everywhere Initiative.

There will be 3 winners, each getting USD 25,000. Also, each company/startup selected as a Brief Winner will walk away with USD 25,000. However, if Visa determines that a brief winner has created a standout solution, Visa may provide further investment and mentoring.
