Facebook is testing a thumbs-down Dislike reaction feature

It’s been over a year since Facebook rolled out more reaction buttons to its platform, and it was noted that the dislike button was left out of the selection of reactions. Facebook is now testing out a thumbs down reaction, which will initially be used in their Messenger app and not for posts.

According to TechCrunch the social media company is testing a new reactions feature in Messenger, which would allow users to add reaction emojis next to text in conversations. This is already existing on current apps like WhatsApp and Telegram. The reactions are similar to the current six reaction buttons for posts as shown above, but also includes a thumbs down button. Facebook confirmed that it is testing the feature and said that:

“We’re always testing ways to make Messenger more fun and engaging. This is a small test where we enable people to share an emoji that best represents their feelings on a message.”

It should be noted that the feature doesn’t appear for all users, but the company has tested it on small groups of users before a global rollout.
