WiNFUND, a 100% non-profit initiative that supports female-led health innovations with real-world impact, has announced 16 female-led health startups as finalists in its funding initiative.
These startups have been selected from over 300 applications from seven countries in Africa, including Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda, and Middle East, based on their potential to create a significant impact in the healthcare sector.
Among thse finalists is CHIL AI Lab Group, a company that uses the power of machine learning and artificial intelligence to provide specialized, affordable, and medically proven chronic disease prevention and management services to women in Africa, Middle East, and Europe, regardless of their location or income.
The team comprises experts in AI, healthcare, and business who are passionate about making a positive impact in women’s lives. They are committed to promoting health equity and creating sustainable healthcare solutions that can be scaled to reach more women.
CHIL AI Lab Group‘s Co-founder and CEO, Shamim Nabuuma Kaliisa, expressed her gratitude to WiNFUND for their support, stating that the fight against breast and cervical cancer could become a thing of the past if organizations like WiNFUND joined the fight.
“As a company, we aim to make breast and cervical cancer history by leveraging technology to provide access to quality healthcare services,” she adds.
The 16 finalists also include Cape Bio Pharms (Pty) Ltd, Ambulex, PinkDrive NPC, Thruthshare, MIKEDCARES LTD, Famasi Africa, Kisumu Medical and Educational Trust, MamaOpe Medicals, Novo Health Africa, Peleyta Health (Uganda), Hospice Africa Uganda, Ufasiri Halisi SLI Innovations Limited, Safari Doctors, Kosmotive, and Alma Clinics.
WiNFUND’s approach combines grassroots movements, tech innovation, and the expertise of frontline workers to support female-led health startups with real-world impact. The initiative uses innovative NFTs (non-fungible tokens) to fund projects, complemented by traditional funding routes.
The initiative is a remarkable example of how technology and innovation can drive social impact, especially in the healthcare sector, which is critical for the growth and development of any nation.
